The gallbladder is a small, pear-shaped organ placed underneath the liver on the right side of the belly. The gallbladder's function is to store the yellow-colored liquid bile juice that aids digestion.
Generally yellow-green in colour, they are the most common gallstones. Excessive concentration of bile in the gall bladder leads to the formation of yellow cholesterol stones.
Small and darker ones, these stones are formed of bilirubin. Bilirubin comes from bile which is produced by the liver and gets stored in the gallbladder.
Laparoscopic Gallbladder Removal:
During this procedure, the surgeon makes a few incisions in the abdomen. Through these incisions, a small, lighted device is inserted carefully remove the gallbladder. The patient is discharged on the same day of the procedure if no further complication is seen.

Advanced surgical treatments using laparoscopic and robotic technology have made surgeries much easier and more successful in recent years. However, if you are not a candidate for surgery owing to medical concerns, your doctor may prescribe a few drugs to assist dissolve the gallstones. However, drugs are rarely advised because they are ineffective in treating this condition and take years to improve.
